Obama Administration Tries to Boot Part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Dr. Stefano Gennarini
NEW YORK, February 28 ( C - FAM ) Mutiny not to get a definition of family-friendly to homosexuality in a new UN report , the Obama administration tried to delete the language accepted by consensus by the UN founders and repeated in documents from then.

Regularly litigation in recent decades , the family has been a diplomatic soccer ball with an eager hand to recognize " various forms of the family" while the other clings to the understanding that the family is "the natural and fundamental group of society , " as is declared in the Universal Declaration of Human rights .
Behind closed doors , negotiators asked the UN to replace the definition of the family of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a long description of new families who have " various forms and functions " and expresses " the diversity of individual preferences . "
The proposed definition excluded the notion of natural family based on the marriage of a man and a woman as the norm for the procreation and raising of children . The U.S. campaign was eventually rejected by UN member countries .
The action puts the U.S. in an awkward position .
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is an almost sacred status in the UN. It is considered , along with the UN Charter , as a founding document of the new world order which started after World War 2.
Moreover , the definition that the UN family is reflected in the constitutions of some 120 countries .
U.S. diplomats argued that extended families and households of single mothers are not included in the classical definition of the UN. Delegates from traditional countries understood the U.S. argument as a pretext to gain recognition of homosexual unions because extended families and homes of single mothers have always been included in the UN definition .
Similar proposals in the United States , though never excluding the language of the Declaration , were routinely included in UN documents until recently . But the General Assembly rejected the notion of " various forms of the family" in his last two sessions despite the insistence of European countries and the United States . Once considered harmless , the phrase became involved in controversy because of Western insistence on homosexual issues .
The UN member countries are not happy with the new focus on lesbian , bisexual or transgender ( LGBT ) issues in the United States and European countries . Western countries have yet to put on the agenda a strong resolution that deals with sexual orientation and gender identity and openly countries [ pro-homosexual ] have been limited to advertising campaigns that make international LGBT issues .
Supporters of LGBT issues are not the only ones frustrated with the UN . There is a trend of decreases of UN terminology that until recently were undisputed not only on LGBT issues , but also related to sexual and reproductive health . Abortion groups are frustrated that they have lost ground in the UN. Are concerned that they can not implement their agenda in future UN policies .
UN diplomats caused controversy last year by rejecting the language of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights . During negotiations on a resolution on policies of women, UN diplomats asked if deletasse a reference to the " inherent right to life, liberty and security of person " of every human being , also the Universal Declaration of Human Rights .
